About Us

USA Re-Boot Resort, based in southern Idaho, is a week-long intensive residential treatment program that takes place at various facilities nationwide. We provide integrated, successful therapies to anyone – from traumatized children to at-risk teens, military veterans and the retired – suffering from symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related conditions. We are working with more and more facilities around the country to better serve those who need our help.

We are unique at the non-profit USA Re-Boot Resort because we provide and integrate several proven, evidence-based therapies that are powerful alone, and even exponentially more successful when used together to treat PTSD and related conditions.

“Program USA Re-Boot change my life…as a wounded warrior this program helped me realize there are people still watching out for me.”

– WOUNDED WARRIOR Taylor Johnson

We started with horse therapy, and even after adding other therapies to our mix we continue to do Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. We have about 40 horses, from yearlings to saddle-horses, and all have proven to be effective clinicians. Here in our desert setting there are few distractions, so the focus is always on the horses and the people we are helping.

Founder and Executive Director Johnny Urrutia is a Level II specialist as certified by Eagala, an international organization well-recognized in mental health communities as a certifying agency for quality Equine Assisted Psychotherapy providers. A former high school math teacher, Johnny U also competed on the professional rodeo circuit and had a successful country-western music career. These days he is passionate about helping people with stress and anxiety disorders.

Together, our USA Re-Boot Resort founders have more than 40 years of experience in equine activities and a strong passion for helping others.

The National Institutes of Health estimates about 7.7 million American adults have PTSD, a condition that can affect any age. Women are more likely to develop PTSD than men, and there is some indication that the potential for PTSD may run in families.

Idaho Horse Therapy, which runs USA Re-Boot Resorts, has achieved Eagala’s Advanced Military Provider Certification, the highest certification level specific to serving military populations.
